An applied science conference for students, PhD candidates, and young scientists was held at the Taraclia branch of Angel Kanchev University of Ruse on Monday. This event marked the first student conference hosted at the branch in Moldova and was part of the University of Ruse’s 65th science conference. The conference commenced with a plenary meeting, attended by the Taraclia branch Director, Assoc.
Prof. Valentina Vasileva, and Administrative Director Alexandr Borimecicov. During the opening, Vasileva presented on establishing a common European space for education and science and the role of universities within it.
The agenda also included a presentation of three books, supported by the Bulgarian Spirit Foundation, given by its President, Oleg Kosih. Vasileva stated the conference was organized to encourage students to develop scientific materials and to assess the supervisory capacity of the tutors. She noted that the 23 papers presented, developed by students and supervisors, demonstrated the collaborative potential among the participants.
She encouraged students to remain active and confident in their abilities. The conference was structured around three thematic areas. The first focused on Bulgarian cultural-historical heritage, covering topics such as the contributions of Bulgarian historians and archaeologists and medieval literature.
The second area explored interdisciplinary research in music and folklore, addressing topics like folk music as a factor in cultural identification and tutor-parent interactions. The final section addressed new challenges in education and psychology, including educational processes as social-pedagogic systems and the integration of AI in academic growth. The Taraclia branch began its academic year on September 1, 2025, following its official transformation from Taraclia State University into a branch of Angel Kanchev University of Ruse on April 2, 2025.
This institutional shift to an international academic branch of a Bulgarian institution is viewed as a strategic move to enhance cooperation between the two nations and potentially expand the majors offered to students in Moldova.
