Of the Year 2025 Ceremony Highlights Bulgaria’s Strong Investment Growth, Innovation Focus

Bulgaria’s commitment to economic growth and industrial diversification was highlighted during the 20th Investor of the Year awards, which were presented by the InvestBulgaria Agency (IBA) during its 30th anniversary ceremony. The event underscored the nation’s strategic focus on high-value sectors. The top distinction, Investor of the Year 2025, was awarded to BTL Industries Bulgaria for a substantial EUR 51 million investment in Plovdiv, which generated over 700 jobs.

BTL Industries, operational since 1998, was recognized for its long-term development contributions, signaling the country’s potential to become a major medical technology hub. The awards reflected a broad spectrum of economic activity, recognizing sectoral expansions in aviation, technology, and sustainable business practices. Further acknowledgments were given to companies like Intuitive Surgical and Nestlé Bulgaria for their regional growth and commitment to innovation.

Complementing the awards, the IBA reported that foreign direct investment in Bulgaria surpassed EUR 800 million during the first two months of 2026, nearly doubling the figure from the previous year. Agency leadership attributed this robust growth to Bulgaria’s macroeconomic stability, competitive tax framework, and developing human capital. Officials emphasized that future attraction efforts will target manufacturing, ICT, research and development, and education—specifically prioritizing projects that generate higher added value and innovation.

The IBA affirmed its role in supporting investors, noting that sustained business success remains crucial to the country’s overall economic development.
