The 52nd National Assembly’s composition was detailed on Thursday when Parliament Chair Mihaela Dotsova announced the leaderships of the six parliamentary groups. The groups are led by prominent political figures, establishing the structure for the new legislative session. The Progressive Bulgaria group is headed by Floor Leader Petar Vitanov, supported by Deputy Floor Leaders Galin Durev, Vladimir Nikolov, Slavi Vassilev, and Olga Borisova.
GERB-UDF has Boyko Borissov as its Floor Leader, with Denitsa Sacheva, Kostadin Angelov, and Roumen Hristov serving as Deputy Floor Leaders. The Movement for Rights and Freedoms group features Delyan Peevski as its Floor Leader, alongside Deputy Floor Leaders Ayten Sabri, Halil Letifov, Hamid Hamid, and Iskra Mihaylova-Koparova. Democratic Bulgaria’s leadership is established by Floor Leader Nadejda Iordanova, with Bozhidar Bozhanov and Katya Paneva as Deputy Floor Leaders.
The Continue the Change group is led by Nikolay Denkov, whose deputies include Ivaylo Shotev and Tatyana Sultanova-Siveva. Finally, Vazrazhdane is represented by Floor Leader Kostadin Kostadinov and Deputy Floor Leader Peter Petrov. It was noted that Continue the Change (CC) and Democratic Bulgaria (DB), which ran as a coalition during the elections, opted to form separate parliamentary groups on Wednesday.
While DB’s leadership characterized this split as a “serious political mistake,” CC extended an invitation to sign an agreement for a joint parliamentary alliance under the banner “Strong Bulgaria in a Strong Europe.”
