’s Annual Inflation Rises to 6.2% in April, Highest in Eurozone

Preliminary data from Eurostat indicates that annual inflation in Bulgaria reached 6.2% in April 2026, marking the highest rate among countries in the Euro area. In contrast, overall Eurozone inflation is projected to increase for the fourth consecutive month, reaching 3.0% in April from 2.6% in March. Among Euro area nations, Lithuania recorded the second-highest annual inflation at 4.9%, followed by Greece (4.6%), Belgium (4.3%), and Slovakia (4.0%).

Conversely, Finland (2.3%), Malta (2.4%), and the Netherlands and France (2.5%) reported the lowest rates. Analyzing component data for the Euro area, energy is expected to show the largest annual increase in April at 10.9%, up from 5.1% in March. Services inflation is projected to slightly decrease to 3.0% (from 3.2% in March), while food, alcohol, and tobacco inflation is estimated at 2.5%.

Meanwhile, Bulgaria’s National Statistical Institute (NSI) issued a flash estimate on Wednesday, reporting that monthly inflation, measured by the Consumer Price Index (CPI), is anticipated to hit 2.0%, with the annual rate standing at 7.1% for April 2026.
