’s National News Agency Editor-in-Chief Visits BTA National Press Club in Skopje

Vijay Joshi, CEO and Editor-in-Chief of the Press Trust of India (PTI), recently visited the Bulgarian News Agency (BTA) facilities. During his time, Joshi visited the BTA National Press Club in Skopje and previously in Belgrade, meeting with local correspondents and diplomatic representatives. Joshi and BTA Director General Kiril Valchev also attended the MINDS International conference in Vienna, where representatives from PTI and BTA participated.

At the forum, BTA presented “Digital Life for BTA’s Archives,” detailing efforts to digitize the agency’s extensive historical records. The professional exchanges highlight deep cooperation between the two news organizations. In addition to the conference, Joshi’s itinerary included visits to cultural centers and academic discussions, such as those related to the 160th anniversary of Pencho Slaveykov.

He and Valchev are also scheduled to attend the BNR Top 20 Music Awards in Sofia. This trip marks Joshi’s second visit to Bulgaria. The strong partnership was formalized on October 6, 2023, in Toronto, where PTI and BTA signed a cooperation agreement.

This accord facilitates mutual exchange of full English-language news services and daily news items, supporting both agencies’ global reach. BTA maintains active membership within MINDS International, a global network of news agencies, reinforcing its role in international information services.
