‘s Sasha Vezenkov Named EuroLeague MVP for Second Time in His Career

Bulgarian basketball player Aleksandar “Sasha” Vezenkov has been awarded the 2025-2026 EuroLeague Most Valuable Player award. He secured the league’s top individual honor after leading Olympiacos Piraeus to the best regular-season record and delivering a comprehensive season. The award was determined by votes from EuroLeague team captains and head coaches (35% each), accredited media (20%), and fans (10%).

Vezenkov, age 30, placed ahead of Zalgiris Kaunas guard Sylvain Francisco, who finished second, and Hapoel IBI Tel Aviv’s Elijah Bryant, who placed third. This marks a second MVP honor for Vezenkov, having previously won the award in the 2022-2023 season. This achievement makes him only the second player to claim the award twice, following Anthony Parker, who won in 2004-2005 and 2005-2006.

Throughout the 2025-2026 season, Vezenkov averaged 19.4 points per game, topped the PIR rankings with 23.1, and recorded 6.6 rebounds per game. He scored in double figures in 33 of his 34 appearances. The EuroLeague recognized his standout performance in January, where he averaged 23.6 points and earned the EuroLeague MVP of the Month award.

His strong showing included multiple MVP of the Round awards, with one instance against FC Bayern Munich where he posted a PIR of 35. Furthermore, between Rounds 20 and 23, Sasha Vezenkov became the first player since the 2000-2001 season to achieve a PIR of 32 or more in four consecutive games. Vezenkov also earned a fourth place on the All-EuroLeague First Team, joining Olympiacos players Milos Teodosic and Vassilis Spanoulis as the club’s MVP winners.
