Someone Begins Doing Their Job, They Get Framed with False Witnesses – CC Leader Vassilev

Following statements indicating pressure on the Interior Ministry’s acting Secretary General, Georgi Kandev, Assen Vassilev, leader of Continue the Change (CC), commented on Facebook. Vassilev alleged that in Bulgaria, when someone begins doing their duties, they are immediately subjected to allegations supported by false witnesses. He characterized the reported threats against Kandev as “absolutely scandalous.”

Vassilev further stated that achieving a prosperous, just, and European Bulgaria requires the immediate replacement of the Supreme Judicial Council and a comprehensive restructuring of the judicial system.

Earlier on Friday, Kandev posted a video message on Facebook asserting that while he had received a directive to resign, he would not yield to threats or private negotiations. The context of the pressure arose after Kandev was informed that individuals, including a person identified by the nickname “Kartofa,” had submitted false testimony against him at the Sofia City Prosecution Office on Thursday. The statements from political figures suggest escalating tensions within the country’s administrative and judicial sectors.

Vassilev’s commentary emphasizes systemic reform as the necessary path forward for governance. Kandev’s public response maintains his commitment to his current role despite the reported internal opposition and legal challenges he has faced.
