Nikolay Denkov, former prime minister and deputy leader of Continue the Change (CC), stated that the political landscape in Bulgaria is far from achieving a single unified party structure. While acknowledging shared objectives with Yes, Bulgaria, Denkov emphasized that the two groups maintain differing views on the methods required to achieve those goals. Since 2023, CC has operated as a coalition partner alongside Yes, Bulgaria and Democrats for Strong Bulgaria; however, a formal coalition agreement remains absent.
Recently, the National Council of Yes, Bulgaria adopted a resolution calling for the proposal of a formal agreement and outlining a roadmap toward building a consolidated political entity based on the existing alliance. Denkov critiqued the two alternatives proposed by the group, calling them “very extreme.” He specifically addressed the options of forming a common party or separating entirely. He countered that CC’s current proposal avoids the limitations of a merger, arguing that the parties can collaborate effectively while each retaining the ability to develop its individual strengths.
The deputy leader also noted that the parties have reached an agreement concerning the presidential elections, which involves nominating a joint candidate. When questioned about the possibility of forming separate parliamentary groups, Denkov deferred the decision to the respective Members of Parliament. This discussion comes as Yes, Bulgaria’s co-leaders recently reinforced the belief that the electorate desires a more consolidated political project moving forward.
