Bulgarian President Iliana Iotova’s visit to Armenia continues for the Eighth Summit of the European Political Community, which commenced in Yerevan on Monday. The President is scheduled to take part in a high-level discussion concerning the impact of the Vertical Gas Corridor on regional energy security. This strategic initiative is designed to bolster energy security and diversify natural gas supplies throughout Southeastern, Eastern, and Central Europe.
During her address at the forum, President Iotova intends to concentrate on improving transport and energy connectivity across Europe. Additionally, she will participate in an event titled “European Coalition Against Drugs” as part of the Summit’s agenda. On the sidelines of the main forum, she is set to meet with Greek President Konstantinos Tasoulas.
The Summit is being co-chaired by European Council President Antonio Costa and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan. Earlier on Sunday, President Iotova and Prime Minister Pashinyan signed a Joint Declaration on Strategic Partnership between Bulgaria and Armenia. During her visit, President Iotova also toured the Peyo Yavorov Primary School in Yerevan, named after the celebrated Bulgarian poet.
President Iotova and her Armenian counterpart, Vahagn Khachaturyan, held discussions aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation. The Bulgarian president emphasized the significance of the European Political Community in advancing connectivity and fostering broader relations across the continent.
