Tina Mari Flem, the current editor-in-chief of the Norwegian News Agency, has been elected president of MINDS, a global media innovation network. Flem succeeded the chief executive officer of the Finnish News Agency, whose tenure has concluded. The election was held on Thursday afternoon during MINDS’ annual general meeting in Vienna.
During the event, BTA Director General Kiril Valchev congratulated Flem and presented her with the English edition of The Real News: Stories on Life 1898-2023, a book marking the 125th anniversary of BTA. BTA joined MINDS on April 23, 2022, following a unanimous decision by the MINDS General Assembly. This membership, which occurred during the organization’s 32nd conference in Helsinki, added Bulgaria’s national news agency to a roster alongside major international news providers such as Reuters, Agence France-Presse, and the Associated Press.
Currently, BTA maintains agreements with 16 agencies that are members of MINDS. These partners include Anadolu Agency, ANP, Athens-Macedonian News Agency, ANSA, AFP, AP, Austria Presse Agentur, Belga, Deutsche Presse-Agentur, EFE, Kyodo News, LETA, Lusa, Polish Press Agency, Press Trust of India, and Reuters. The election of Flem to this prominent role underscores the continued integration of national news agencies within the international media landscape.
