Editor-in-Chief Tina Mari Flem Elected President of Media Innovation Network MINDS

Tina Mari Flem, the editor-in-chief of the Norwegian News Agency, has been elected president of MINDS, a prominent media innovation network that connects leading news agencies globally, including the Bulgarian News Agency (BTA). Flem assumes the role following the expiration of the term for the chief executive officer of the Finnish News Agency. The election took place on Thursday afternoon during MINDS’ annual general meeting held in Vienna.

During the ceremony, BTA Director General Kiril Valchev congratulated Flem on her election and presented her with the English-language edition of the book The Real News: Stories on Life 1898-2023, marking the 125th anniversary of BTA. BTA joined the organization in late April 2022 after a unanimous decision by the MINDS General Assembly in Helsinki. This addition placed Bulgaria’s national news agency alongside major international outlets such as Reuters, Agence France-Presse, and the Associated Press.

MINDS facilitates extensive collaboration among its members. BTA currently maintains agreements with 16 agencies within the network, including Anadolu Agency, ANP, ANSA, AFP, AP, and Reuters. The appointment of Flem as the new chief leader of MINDS signals continued international focus on collaboration within the global news industry.
