Welcomes Participants in Three Seas Initiative Summit

Dubrovnik is hosting the Three Seas Initiative (3SI) Summit on Tuesday, with a Bulgarian delegation, led by Ambassador Iva Kruleva, also attending. The city has implemented special traffic regulations to manage the event, as the tourist season is underway. Dubrovnik Airport anticipates arrivals from numerous tourists and aircraft carrying summit participants.

Police have been mobilized for traffic management and have advised residents to expect potential congestion. The expected presence of high-ranking officials will also draw significant international media coverage. The 3SI serves as a framework for political and economic cooperation among thirteen EU Member States situated between the Baltic, Adriatic, and Black Seas, including Bulgaria, Croatia, Poland, and others.

Key strategic partners include Germany, the European Commission, the United States, Japan, Spain, and Turkiye, while associate members include Ukraine, Moldova, Albania, and Montenegro. The core objective of the initiative is to enhance regional connectivity through investments in energy, transport, and digital infrastructure. Launched in 2016 by Croatia and Poland, the 2026 edition will emphasize regional resilience and digital transformation, aiming to link the three countries with global corridors such as the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor.

Romana Vlahutin, Croatia’s national coordinator, noted that while East-West links have seen development, North-South connectivity remains an area needing focus. She stated that the current summit brings together leaders and global business representatives from 45 countries, making it a broader global engagement. Attendees include heads of state and government from several nations, underscoring the importance of this international gathering.
