13 Elected MP Candidates Must Pick Constituency on Friday

The Central Election Commission has mandated that thirteen specific candidates who were successfully elected in two separate constituencies must now select one single constituency to officially represent in the upcoming 52nd National Assembly. This procedural deadline requires these individuals to make their choice by Friday. The recent early parliamentary elections, held on April 19, saw a high volume of participation, with a total of 1,019 candidates running across two constituencies—representing the maximum permissible number.

Among the successful elected representatives are thirteen prominent figures who must now formalize their area of representation. These thirteen individuals represent the leadership of the five major coalitions and parties that secured seats in the new legislature. The list of electees includes Rumen Radev, representing Progressive Bulgaria; Boyko Borissov, affiliated with GERB-UDF; and Assen Vassilev and Nikolay Denkov, who are associated with Continue the Change – Democratic Bulgaria.

Additionally, Delyan Peevski of the Movement for Rights and Freedoms and Kostadin Kostadinov of Vazrazhdane are among those who must designate their primary constituency. The directive clarifies that although these individuals achieved electoral success in two different geographic areas, their official mandate for the National Assembly must be confined to one specified constituency. This process is crucial for finalizing the composition and operational structure of the incoming legislative body.
