13 Elected MP Candidates Must Pick Constituency on Friday

The Central Election Commission has issued a directive to the 13 candidates who were elected in two separate constituencies. These individuals must decide by Friday which constituency they intend to represent in the 52nd National Assembly. The recent early parliamentary elections, held in April 19, saw a total of 1,019 candidates compete across two constituencies, reaching the maximum allowable number.

The 13 individuals who were elected are notable as they include the leaders representing all five coalitions and parties that secured seats in the new legislature. These leaders include Rumen Radev of Progressive Bulgaria, Boyko Borissov of GERB-UDF, Assen Vassilev and Nikolay Denkov from Continue the Change – Democratic Bulgaria, Delyan Peevski of the Movement for Rights and Freedoms, and Kostadin Kostadinov of Vazrazhdane. This procedural requirement mandates that the successful candidates finalize their representation within a single electoral district.

The Commission’s directive aims to establish clear representation protocols for the incoming parliamentary session, ensuring that each elected official formally commits to one specific constituency.
