Election Commission: With 68.34% of Tally Sheets Processed, Progressive Bulgaria Leads with 44.5%, Second Is CC-DB with 14.0%

The Central Election Commission (CEC) has released preliminary results from the parliamentary election held on April 19. These initial figures are based on the processing of 68.34% of the total tally sheets, compiled by section and constituency election commissions as of 7 am on Monday. These proceedings mark the eighth parliamentary election in Bulgaria since 2021.

The CEC’s reporting follows established protocols outlined in the Election Code. Under this code, the commission is mandated to announce the final vote counts and the subsequent distribution of seats among political parties and coalitions no later than four days following the election day. Furthermore, the names of the elected Members of Parliament must be published within seven days of the election.

The release of these interim results provides an early overview of the electoral outcome, though the final certification remains subject to the completion of the full count. Election monitoring bodies and political analysts are awaiting the final tally reports from the various local election commissions to gauge the full scope of the results. The methodical processing of the tally sheets by the various levels of the commission is crucial to ensuring the transparency and accuracy of the final election declaration.
