Election Commission: Based on 96.41% of Tally Sheets, Progressive Bulgaria Leads with 44.7%, GERB-UDF Second with 13.4%

The Central Election Commission (CEC) has released preliminary results following the parliamentary election held on April 19. These initial figures represent the processing of 96.41% of the tally sheets, compiled by section election commissions and aggregated at the constituency level, according to data reported at 11 a.m. on Monday.

The preliminary findings indicate which political parties and coalitions have successfully crossed the mandated 4% electoral threshold. Under the existing Election Code, the CEC is legally required to announce the final vote counts and the subsequent distribution of seats among all participating parties and coalitions no later than four days following the election day. Furthermore, the names of the elected Members of Parliament must be officially published within seven days of the voting period’s conclusion.

This electoral process marks the eighth parliamentary election in Bulgaria since 2021. The ongoing work by the various commission bodies is crucial to finalizing the mandate determination. The preliminary results, based on the comprehensive tally sheet processing, provide an initial overview of the electorate’s preferences.

The CEC continues to oversee the tabulation, ensuring that all procedural requirements are met as the final counts are compiled. The final determination of parliamentary representation will be formalized once all processing by the local commission structures is complete, adhering strictly to the timelines set forth by national electoral law.
