, Air Defence Missile Engine Wash Ashore in Sunny Beach Resort Area, Transported to Navy Base in Burgas

Personnel from the Burgas Naval Base conducted operations this week following the discovery of unidentified military materials along the coast. The Ministry of Defence reported that specialized teams managed two separate recoveries: an air defence missile engine and an unmanned aerial vehicle (drone). On April 22, a team deployed to the Sunny Beach resort identified an object on the beach that was determined to be the booster stage of an air defence missile.

The equipment was assessed as posing no threat and subsequently transported to the naval base for secure handling. Later in the week, the military was alerted to a drone sighted at sea northeast of Nessebar. In response, specialized personnel surveyed an area approximately 150–200 meters from the shoreline.

The search, which continued into Thursday morning with the aid of a Bulgarian Navy boat, successfully located the drone. Officials confirmed the device was missing its nose section and contained no explosive components, concluding that it did not represent a danger. These efforts underscore ongoing security measures related to maritime defence.

The actions taken by the Navy personnel were executed at the request of the Burgas Regional Administration, authorized by directives from the Chief of Defence and the Navy Commander. Both recovered items were secured at the Burgas Naval Base, ensuring proper investigation and disposal protocols were followed.
