, Bulgaria Pushes for Formal Coalition Agreement of Continue the Change and Democratic Bulgaria and Common Centre-Right Presidential Candidate

The National Council of the “Yes, Bulgaria” party, a component of the Democratic Bulgaria group within the CC-DB coalition, has mandated the party to draft a formal coalition agreement for its partners. The party’s press office announced that the proposed document aims to establish clear governance structures and decision-making protocols, as the alliance currently operates without such a framework. The agreement is expected to detail coalition management bodies, rules for parliamentary work, candidate nomination standards, a unified personnel policy, and measures to eliminate party quotas in future elections.

Furthermore, the Council directed efforts toward creating a “roadmap for the creation of a unified democratic centre-right political entity,” which may involve parties outside the current alliance in Bulgaria. The National Council also instructed the Executive Council to begin preparations for upcoming presidential elections, focusing on securing support for a common democratic centre-right candidate as swiftly as possible. The decision outlined specific priorities for “Yes, Bulgaria” Members of Parliament in the new parliament.

These legislative focuses include maintaining an opposition stance against excessive power concentration and proposing right-wing fiscal measures for the state budget. Other priorities involve introducing a new Judiciary Act with updated criteria for the Supreme Judicial Council, advancing anti-corruption legislation, and calling for the removal of state security protection for prominent figures. Additionally, the plan emphasizes healthcare reform by requiring private hospitals to participate in public tenders for medicines and implementing SMS notifications for health services.
