The agreement is slated to define management bodies, decision-making rules, parliamentary group procedures, candidate nomination criteria, and a unified staffing policy, while also seeking to eliminate party quotas in future elections.
A significant focus of the council’s decision is the development of a roadmap for creating a unified democratic centre-right political entity, a process that may involve parties outside the current alliance structure in Bulgaria. Furthermore, the council instructed the party’s Executive Council to prepare for upcoming presidential elections and work to secure support for a common democratic centre-right candidate swiftly. The decision also outlines specific priorities for “Yes, Bulgaria” Members of Parliament in the new parliament.
These include maintaining a clear opposition stance against the excessive concentration of power, advocating for right-wing fiscal measures in the draft state budget, and introducing a new Judiciary Act with updated criteria for selecting members of the Supreme Judicial Council. Other stated priorities involve advancing anti-corruption legislation, calling for the removal of state security protection for GERB leader Boyko Borissov and Movement for Rights and Freedoms leader Delyan Peevski, and implementing measures to prevent the misuse of National Health Insurance Fund funds, such as requiring private hospitals to hold public tenders for medicines.
