The DianaMar Balneo Hotel in Pavel Banya is currently undergoing a comprehensive renovation of its spa center, according to General Manager Georgi Paunov. The upgrades are set to incorporate a new ice room, enhancing the existing salt rooms, steam baths, and saunas. Paunov noted that DianaMar functions as an extension of the Avicenna Medical Centre’s activities, building on its previous development at the Markoni Balneo Hotel.
He stated that the facility was among the first to offer high-level balneological services in the south-central town area approximately a decade ago. The design and development of the complex draw inspiration from established European balneological resorts, including Baden-Baden, Spa, Vichy, and Karlovy Vary. The facility’s team comprises specialists in physical and rehabilitation medicine, with operations coordinated by Dr.
Miroslav Minev. All procedures adhere strictly to medical standards and utilize specialized equipment. DianaMar offers advanced treatments such as hyperbaric oxygenation, cryotherapy, focused high-intensity EMSELLA therapy, and focused shockwave therapy (FSWT).
These methods are utilized for treating medical conditions and supporting the recovery of active athletes, aiming to shorten recovery periods and increase therapeutic effectiveness. The primary focus remains balneotherapy, leveraging the mineral water composition of Pavel Banya, which is beneficial for treating musculoskeletal disorders. Complementary spa and wellness services are also provided.
The hotel, featuring 80 guest rooms, maintains high occupancy rates and attracts clientele from Bulgaria and several international locations, including Albania and Austria. The broader context of health tourism in Bulgaria is highlighted by BTA’s feature, “BG SPA: Salus per aquam, Health Through Water,” which covers over 200 certified spa and medical centers.
