An applied science conference for students, PhD candidates, and young scientists was held at the Taraclia branch of Angel Kanchev University of Ruse on Monday. This event marked the first student conference hosted at the Moldova branch and formed part of the University of Ruse’s 65th science conference. The proceedings commenced with a plenary meeting, attended by the Taraclia branch Director, Assoc.
Prof. Valentina Vasileva, and Administrative Director Alexandr Borimecicov. During the opening ceremony, Vasileva addressed the role of universities in establishing a common European space for education and science.
The agenda also included presentations on three books published with support from the Bulgarian Spirit Foundation. Vasileva noted the conference’s goal was to encourage students to generate scientific material while assessing the capabilities of their supervisors. She highlighted the 23 papers presented by the collaborative teams, which demonstrated a shared vision for future development.
The conference was structured across three main thematic areas: Bulgarian cultural-historical heritage; interdisciplinary research encompassing music, folklore, and pedagogy; and new challenges in education and psychology, including AI integration. The discussions covered diverse topics, ranging from the contributions of Bulgarian historians and archaeologists to the use of folk tales in teaching. The academic context is significant, as the Taraclia branch completed its transformation into a branch of the University of Ruse on April 2, 2025.
This transition is viewed as a strategic enhancement for academic cooperation between the two nations, thereby enriching the range of majors available to students in Moldova.
