Leventi Duo to Present Piece for Two Bagpipes in Munich

The Megdanski Leventi, a musical duo featuring Aleksander Andonov from Nessebar, Bulgaria, and Georgi Dushev from Castelo de Rugat, Spain, is scheduled to present a performance at the 11th edition of “Expats Join Hands in Worldwide Dance.” This event will take place at BMW Park in Munich, Germany, from May 15 to 17. The 16-year-old musicians will perform a piece titled “A Walk Through The Shopluka,” which they describe as possessing a bright character, lively rhythm, and authentic folk spirit. The duo stated that their shared passion for Bulgarian folk music formed the basis of their partnership, noting that while their connection is often maintained online, their in-person meetings during holidays are highly valued.

They added that their teacher suggested incorporating a touch of humor into their performance, aiming to entertain and surprise the audience, while keeping some elements a secret. “Expats Join Hands in Worldwide Dance” is a traveling festival dedicated to amateur folklore ensembles performing outside of Bulgaria. The initiative was established by the Ot Izvora group in Lyon, France, which has hosted the first edition in 2015 and the tenth edition in 2025.

Organizers anticipate a large turnout for the Munich event, expecting over 100 dance ensembles and more than 4,000 guests. The Bulgarian News Agency (BTA) is serving as the official media partner for the festival and will provide coverage of all participants.
