The Megdanski Leventi, a musical duo featuring Aleksander Andonov from Nessebar, Bulgaria, and Georgi Dushev from Castelo de Rugat, Spain, is scheduled to present a performance at the 11th iteration of the “Expats Join Hands in Worldwide Dance.” This gathering will take place from May 15 to May 17 at the BMW Park in Munich, Germany. The musicians, who are 16 years old and graduates of the Petko Stoyanov bagpipe school in Nessebar, will perform a piece for two bagpipes titled “A Walk Through The Shopluka.” The performers stated that the music embodies the vibrant rhythm and spirit of Bulgarian folk traditions, which brought their friendship together. They noted that while their connection is often maintained online, their in-person meetings remain highly valued.
The leventi emphasized that their performance incorporates an element of humor, aiming to entertain the audience. The “Expats Join Hands in Worldwide Dance” festival is organized specifically for amateur folklore ensembles performing outside of Bulgaria. The initiative was established by the Ot Izvora group in Lyon, France, which hosted both the inaugural edition in 2015 and the tenth edition in 2025.
For the 11th edition in Munich, organizers anticipate participation from over 100 dance ensembles and an attendance of more than 4,000 guests. The Bulgarian News Agency (BTA) serves as the official media partner for the event and will feature all participating groups.
