Sixteen-year-old Bulgarian singer Gabriela Ivanova, who resides in Dublin, is scheduled to perform a medley featuring two songs from the Shopluk region at the 11th Expats Join Hands in Worldwide Dance travelling folklore festival. This event will take place at BMW Park in Munich, Germany, from May 15 to 17. Ivanova’s musical journey began when she was six years old.
Her mother, Liliyana Dancheva, noted that since starting to sing, Ivanova has received numerous honors. Her talent was recognized by the Dimitar Berbatov Foundation, which selected her as one of Bulgaria’s promising young talents for four years. Furthermore, Georgi Andreev, head of the Philip Koutev Ensemble, invited her to perform with The Mystery Of The Bulgarian Voices during a concert alongside the Dublin Philharmonic Orchestra in Ireland.
Dancheva also mentioned Ivanova’s recent appearance at the Bulgarian Embassy in Dublin. There, she performed at the invitation of Ambassador Vanya Andreeva-Malakova to mark Easter, singing for Metropolitan Antony and the directors of Bulgarian National Television, the Bulgarian News Agency, and Bulgarian National Radio, alongside the Svetoglas Quartet. Regarding her message to the audience, Dancheva stated that the performance aims to convey the importance of being surrounded by beautiful music, dance, love, and kindness.
The performance will also include a folk dance allowing the audience to participate on stage. The Expats Join Hands in Worldwide Dance festival supports amateur folklore ensembles performing outside Bulgaria. Initiated by the Ot Izvora group in Lyon, France, the festival hosted its first edition in 2015.
For the 11th edition in Munich, organizers anticipate participation from over 100 dance ensembles and an attendance of more than 4,000 guests. The Bulgarian News Agency (BTA) is the official media partner, and all participants will be featured by the agency.
