Cabinet Left Good Legacy that Should Be Example for Future Cabinets – PM Gurov

Caretaker Prime Minister Andrey Gurov stated on Sunday that his cabinet is leaving a positive legacy, intended to serve as an operational model for the Bulgarian government. He expressed hope that this performance can set a standard for future administrations. Gurov indicated that his cabinet has prepared a comprehensive set of measures for Parliament, which will be transferred to the incoming government.

These measures, he stated, are necessary not only to support the Recovery and Resilience Plan but also to ensure the state functions according to citizen expectations. The Prime Minister added that he anticipates decisions in the coming weeks regarding proposed amendments to the Judicial System Act and the establishment of a new anti-corruption commission. Regarding the transition of power, Gurov told Bulgarian National Radio that preparations for the handover have begun to prevent any delays that could affect Bulgarian citizens.

He assured that the transition process will clearly differentiate between accomplishments and critical outstanding issues that require prompt resolution. Gurov commended caretaker Deputy Prime Minister for European Funding Maria Nedina for her work, which reportedly increased the likelihood of recovering substantial funds that might otherwise have been lost due to legislative delays or the suspension of the anti-corruption commission. Addressing the ongoing investigation involving himself, other ministers, and acting Interior Ministry Secretary General Georgi Kandev, Gurov noted that he had not yet been summoned for questioning.

He suggested that the prosecution service displayed bias and speculated about coordination between those attempting to manipulate elections and the prosecution service. When questioned about running for president, Gurov mentioned receiving inquiries from various groups but stated that the matter requires careful consideration following the cabinet’s focus on the elections.
