The Defence Ministry announced that servicemen and military equipment belonging to Land Forces units will be transported across Bulgaria’s infrastructure between April 28 and April 30, 2026, following participation in scheduled military exercises. On April 28 and 29, personnel and materiel returning from the “Defensive Shield 26” tactical drill, conducted by the 5th Brigade Command, will move from the Koren Training Area in Southern Bulgaria. The movement will utilize both road and rail networks to reach the cities of Pleven, Shumen, and Sliven.
The final day, April 30, involves military convoys carrying personnel and equipment traveling along the national road network. These units will depart from the Novo Selo Training Area in Southeastern Bulgaria after completing their field training exercises. Throughout these movements, the military forces will be accompanied by escorts from the Military Police Service.
The planned logistics involve the systematic use of the country’s road and rail infrastructure to facilitate the orderly return of the deployed forces following their mandated training rotations.
