Forces Convoys to Move Across National Road and Rail Network After Exercises

The Ministry of Defence announced that between April 28 and April 30, 2026, servicemen and military equipment belonging to Land Forces units will be moved across Bulgaria’s infrastructure following the completion of scheduled military exercises. On April 28 and 29, the initial phase of movement will see personnel and materiel returning from the “Defensive Shield 26” tactical drill, conducted by the 5th Brigade Command. These units will transition from the Koren Training Area in Southern Bulgaria, traveling via both road and rail networks to the cities of Pleven, Shumen, and Sliven.

The movement continues on April 30. On this final day, military convoys carrying personnel and equipment will travel along the national road network. These forces will depart from the Novo Selo Training Area, located in Southeastern Bulgaria, after concluding their field training exercises.

Throughout the three-day period, the movement of military assets will be managed systematically. The convoys are scheduled to be escorted by the Military Police Service to ensure the security and orderly passage of the equipment and troops. This coordinated transport highlights the logistical capabilities of the Land Forces as they transition from operational training environments back to established regional hubs.

The planned movements utilize the country’s comprehensive road and rail infrastructure to facilitate the return of military assets following rigorous field exercises.
