Forces Convoys to Move Across National Road and Rail Network After Exercises

The Ministry of Defence announced on Monday that military equipment and servicemen belonging to Land Forces units will be transported across Bulgaria’s national infrastructure from April 28 through April 30, 2026. This movement follows the conclusion of scheduled military exercises. On April 28 and 29, the initial phase of transport will see personnel and military assets returning from the “Defensive Shield 26” tactical drill conducted by the 5th Brigade Command.

These convoys will move from the Koren Training Area, located in Southern Bulgaria, destined for the cities of Pleven, Shumen, and Sliven. The movement will utilize both the established road network and the rail system. The final movement is scheduled for April 30.

On this date, military convoys carrying personnel and equipment will travel along the national road network, departing from the Novo Selo Training Area in Southeastern Bulgaria after completing field training exercises. Throughout both phases of the operation, the movement of the deployed forces will be managed by escorts from the Military Police Service. The coordinated transit across the country’s road and rail arteries ensures the safe logistical transfer of the land forces following their participation in the planned exercises.
