Information Services reported that it provided extensive live broadcasting and video recording services for the ballot counting following Bulgaria’s early parliamentary election on April 19. The company stated that coverage reached 11,635 voting sections, representing 99.83% of all section election commissions (SECs) eligible for video broadcasting. This figure marks a record high since the implementation of video surveillance, with the number of sections exceeding those from the previous October 2024 election.
The digital infrastructure supporting the process also saw significant engagement. Following the election, the video surveillance platform was accessed by over 310,000 users, indicating a 164% increase in public interest compared to prior elections. A total of 11,493 sections broadcast the ballot counting live, setting a new record for the video coverage of the process.
In terms of operational efficiency, Information Services completed the processing and rechecking of tally sheets by April 21, adhering to the Election Code deadlines. To enhance transparency, the company deployed several digital services. These included the eProtocol mobile application, designed to validate data from SEC tally sheets and allow for civic oversight, which was downloaded 21,000 times and helped reduce preparation errors.
Furthermore, the company developed an interactive visualization tool to explain the methodology for calculating election results and allocating mandates. These comprehensive services underscore the company’s commitment to supporting the integrity of the electoral process.
