Of Ruse’s Taraclia Branch Holds First Student Conference

An applied science conference for students, PhD candidates, and young scientists was held at the Taraclia branch of the Angel Kanchev University of Ruse on Monday. This event marked the first student conference hosted at the branch in Moldova and formed part of the University of Ruse’s 65th science conference. The opening ceremony featured remarks from Taraclia branch Director Assoc.

Prof. Valentina Vasileva and Administrative Director Alexandr Borimecicov. During the opening, Vasileva presented a paper discussing the establishment of a common European space for education and science and the role of universities within it.

The agenda also included a presentation of three books, published with the support of the Bulgarian Spirit Foundation, delivered by its President, Oleg Kosih. Vasileva noted the conference aimed to encourage students to develop scientific materials and to assess the capabilities of their academic supervisors. She highlighted the success of the collaboration, noting that the 23 papers presented by students and supervisors demonstrate a shared vision for future development.

The conference structured its discussions across three thematic areas. The first covered Bulgarian cultural-historical heritage, addressing topics such as the contributions of Bulgarian historians and archaeologists, and the impact of medieval literature. The second theme focused on interdisciplinary research in music, folklore, and pedagogy, with discussions covering folk music as an identifier and the use of Bulgarian folklore in teaching.

The third area addressed new challenges in education and psychology, including the integration of AI and the development of communication skills. The Taraclia branch’s participation reflects a strategic expansion, as the institution officially transitioned to this status following the University of Ruse’s development. This growth aims to enhance cooperation between the two nations, providing expanded academic opportunities for students in Moldova.
