Of Ruse’s Taraclia Branch Holds First Student Conference

An applied science conference for students, PhD candidates, and young scientists was recently held at the Taraclia branch of Angel Kanchev University of Ruse. This event marked the first student conference hosted by the branch in Moldova and served as part of the University of Ruse’s 65th science conference celebration. The conference commenced with a plenary session, featuring remarks from the Taraclia branch Director, Assoc.

Prof. Valentina Vasileva, and Administrative Director Alexandr Borimecicov. During the opening, Vasileva addressed the establishment of a common European space for education and science and the role of universities within it.

The agenda also included book presentations supported by the Bulgarian Spirit Foundation. Vasileva noted the conference aimed both to stimulate student scientific output and to assess the capability of their academic supervisors. She highlighted the success of the collaboration, noting that the 23 papers presented by students and supervisors demonstrated a shared vision for future development.

Academically, the conference was structured around three key themes: Bulgarian cultural-historical heritage; interdisciplinary research encompassing music, folklore, and pedagogy; and emerging challenges in education and psychology, such as AI integration. Discussions covered topics ranging from the contributions of Bulgarian historians to the use of folk tales in teaching. The establishment of the Taraclia branch itself is a strategic development, having transitioned from a state university to an international academic branch of the institution in Ruse.

This transition, finalized in April 2025, aims to strengthen cooperation between Bulgaria and Moldova, thereby expanding the range of majors available to students in the region.
