Bulgaria’s economic trajectory was highlighted by strong indicators of growth and strategic diversification during the 20th Investor of the Year awards, organized by the InvestBulgaria Agency (IBA) during its 30th anniversary celebration. The official award ceremony, held at the Hyatt Regency Sofia hotel, recognized significant capital inflows across various sectors. The top honor, Investor of the Year 2025, was awarded to BTL Industries Bulgaria for a EUR 51 million investment in Plovdiv, a project that generated over 700 jobs.
The company, which has been operating in Bulgaria since 1998, was recognized for its long-term commitment, underscoring the nation’s potential to become a major medical technology hub. Bulgarian President Iliana Iotova presented the award, emphasizing that such activities build confidence in Bulgaria as a favorable business location. Other major recognitions spanned multiple industries, including greenfield projects by Intuitive Surgical in Parvomay, aviation expansion by Aero Technic BG, and business growth investments by Nestlé Bulgaria and Festo Bulgaria.
Special distinctions acknowledged contributions in sustainability, low-carbon initiatives, and regional development. Furthermore, the IBA reported that foreign direct investment in Bulgaria surpassed EUR 800 million in the first two months of 2026, nearly doubling the figure from the previous year. Agency leadership attributed this robust investment flow to Bulgaria’s macroeconomic stability, competitive tax structure, and growing human capital.
Officials stated that the nation aims to attract further investment in manufacturing, ICT, research and development, and education, prioritizing projects that generate innovation and higher added value.
