Welcomes Participants in Three Seas Initiative Summit

Dubrovnik is hosting the Three Seas Initiative (3SI) Summit on Tuesday, with a Bulgarian delegation, led by Ambassador to Croatia Iva Kruleva, attending alongside representatives from Bulgarian SMEs and companies. The city has prepared for the event, implementing special traffic regulations. With the tourist season underway, Dubrovnik Airport anticipates a high volume of arrivals, including those attending the summit.

Police have been deployed to manage traffic flow, and residents have been advised to anticipate potential congestion. The expected presence of numerous high-ranking officials is also anticipated to draw significant international media coverage. The 3SI functions as a platform for political and economic cooperation involving thirteen EU Member States situated between the Baltic, Adriatic, and Black seas: Bulgaria, Austria, Croatia, Czechia, Estonia, Greece, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, and Slovenia.

Key strategic partners include Germany, the European Commission, the United States, Japan, Spain, and Turkiye. Associate members are Ukraine, Moldova, Albania, and Montenegro. The initiative aims to enhance regional connectivity through investments in energy, transport, and digital infrastructure, having been launched in 2016 by Croatia and Poland.

For the 2026 edition, hosted by Croatia, the focus will be on strengthening regional resilience, digital transformation, and linking the three countries to global economic corridors like the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor and the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route. Romana Vlahutin, Croatia’s national coordinator for the 3SI, noted that while East-West connections have seen development, North-South connectivity has been less addressed. She stated that the summit brings together European and global business leaders, expecting participants from 45 countries.

Among the political guests are the heads of state and government from Austria, Greece, Latvia, Lithuania, Moldova, Romania, Slovakia, Montenegro, Czechia, and Ukraine.
