A conference marking the 150th anniversary of the April Uprising against Ottoman rule is being held today, April 30, at the Museum of History in Panagyurishte. This forum is part of a broader series of discussions organized by the Bulgarian News Agency (BTA) to foster public dialogue surrounding the historic anniversary. Attendees at the event include key figures such as BTA Director General Kiril Valchev, Sofia University Rector Georgi Valchev, Bulgarian National Radio Director General Milen Mitev, local official Panagyurishte Mahyor Zhelyazko Gagov, the Director of the local Museum of History, Atanas Shopov, and theatre director Bina Haralampieva.
The proceedings will be moderated by journalist Boyko Vasilev, host of the program “Panorama” on Bulgarian National Television. These specialized conferences commemorating the 150th anniversary of the uprising are part of the “14 Centuries of Bulgaria in Europe” initiative. This project is a collaboration between BTA, the National Television, and the National Radio.
The overarching goal of the initiative is to draw attention to significant milestones in Bulgarian history that have contributed to the broader narrative of European history.
