Nikola Tsolov achieved his second victory of the Formula 2 season during the Miami Grand Prix, securing the win following a competitive sprint race against Laurens van Hoepen. Tsolov currently leads the F2 standings midway through the second round, maintaining a nine-point advantage over van Hoepen. Both Tsolov, driving for Campos, and van Hoepen, representing Trident, remained near the front throughout the event.
The race featured intense competition for the top position. Initially, Tsolov’s maneuver into Turn 16 appeared to allow van Hoepen an opportunity for the lead, but Tsolov remained in contention. By Lap 10, van Hoepen managed to take the lead.
For the next several laps, Tsolov and van Hoepen engaged in a sustained battle for first place, trading the top spot multiple times with seven laps remaining. The duel culminated in the final moments of the race. The two drivers exchanged the lead on the concluding lap, with Tsolov ultimately regaining the advantage on the final straight to clinch the victory.
This marked Tsolov’s first F2 win in the United States, achieved by a margin of 0.170 seconds. Alex Dunne, driving for Rodin Motorsport, joined the fight for the lead late in the race but ultimately finished in third place.
