Ilieva Wins Bronze at Sabre Grand Prix in South Korea

Yoana Ilieva of Bulgaria secured a bronze medal at the Fencing Grand Prix held in Incheon on Sunday. The competition saw participation from 156 competitors. In the final match, Ilieva was defeated by Maia Chamberlain of the USA with a score of 7-15, placing her third in the overall standings.

To reach the podium, the Bulgarian fencer accumulated four victories throughout the tournament. Her path to the medal included defeating Sophie Liu from the USA with a score of 15-6. She also secured wins against Xue Zhao of China, scoring 15-10, and Zuzanna Cieslar of Poland, winning 15-13.

In the quarterfinals, Ilieva advanced by defeating Sarah Balzer of France with a score of 15-4. The achievement marks a significant performance for Ilieva at the international level.
