By mid-April 2026, preliminary data indicated a decline in the overall number of workplace accidents, according to the General Labour Inspectorate Executive Director. For the specified period, 126 workplace accidents had been reported, a reduction from the 157 recorded during the same period in 2025. Furthermore, fatal workplace accidents decreased to 26, down from 36 in 2025.
Non-traumatic fatal incidents also showed a slight reduction, reporting 14 cases compared to 19 in the corresponding year. The Director noted that statistics suggest that 90% of workplace accidents are preventable through adherence to occupational safety rules. Workplace accidents are primarily attributed to causes such as crushing, being trapped, falls from height, and impact from falling objects.
As of the latest data, construction, crop and livestock farming, metal product manufacturing (excluding machinery), and trade remain classified as high-risk sectors. Increased inspection activity in construction contributed to a noted decrease in reported accidents in that sector. Additionally, land transport saw a significant improvement, reporting no accidents so far in 2026, compared to four accidents, including one fatality
