The Cyprus-based folk formation Sovatchii is scheduled to participate in the 11th edition of the traveling festival, Expats Join Hands in Worldwide Dance. The event will take place at the BMW Park in Munich from May 15 to 17. According to the group’s artistic director, Teodosi Teodosiev, the Sovatchii will present a performance as a камерна formation.
Their routine will feature a segment from “Dances from Southeast Bulgaria,” choreographed by Todor Bekirski and set to music by Stefan Chapkanov, which Teodosiev described as having a strong stage presence and powerful emotional impact. Established on October 1, 2015, the Sovatchii was founded by Teodosiev, who also serves as its artistic director and choreographer. The group has become an active organizer of major annual festivals within Cyprus.
Teodosiev noted that the core mission of the ensemble is to unite Bulgarian school and amateur ensembles, alongside singers and musicians from various age demographics. The Expats Join Hands in Worldwide Dance festival is specifically organized for amateur folklore ensembles performing outside of Bulgaria. The initiative was originally launched by the Ot Izvora group in Lyon, France, which hosted both the inaugural edition in 2015 and the tenth edition in 2025.
For this 11th iteration in Munich, organizers anticipate attendance from over 100 dance ensembles and an expected audience of more than 4,000 guests. The Bulgarian News Agency (BTA) is serving as the official media partner for the event.
