-Based Sovatchii Folk Group to Perform Southeast Bulgarian Dances in Munich

The Cyprus-based folk formation Sovatchii is scheduled to participate in the 11th edition of the traveling festival Expats Join Hands in Worldwide Dance. The event will take place at BMW Park in Munich from May 15 to 17. According to the group’s artistic director, Teodosi Teodosiev, Sovatchii will perform a piece choreographed by Todor Bekirski and accompanied by music from Stefan Chapkanov, which is drawn from “Dances from Southeast Bulgaria.” Teodosiev noted that the performance piece is designed to have a strong stage presence and significant emotional impact.

Sovatchii was established on October 1, 2015, by Teodosiev, who continues to serve as both the artistic director and choreographer. Beyond its performances, the group is recognized for organizing major annual festivals across Cyprus. Its primary goal is to unite Bulgarian school and amateur ensembles, alongside singers and musicians from various age groups.

The Expats Join Hands in Worldwide Dance festival is dedicated to amateur folklore ensembles performing outside of Bulgaria. The initiative was initially launched by the Ot Izvora group in Lyon, France, which hosted both the first edition in 2015 and the tenth edition in 2025. Organizers anticipate that the 11th edition in Munich will host over 100 dance ensembles and accommodate more than 4,000 attendees.

The Bulgarian News Agency (BTA) is the official media partner for the event and will provide coverage for all participating groups.
