The Cyprus-based folk formation Sovatchii is scheduled to participate in the 11th edition of the traveling festival, Expats Join Hands in Worldwide Dance. The event will take place at BMW Park in Munich from May 15 to 17. According to the group’s artistic director, Teodosi Teodosiev, the Sovatchii will perform as a kamern formation, presenting a segment from ‘Dances from Southeast Bulgaria.’ This piece was choreographed by Todor Bekirski and set to music by Stefan Chapkanov, noted for its strong stage presence and emotional impact.
Sovatchii was established on October 1, 2015, by Teodosiev, who continues to serve as both the artistic director and choreographer. Over its operational history, the group has become an active organizer of significant annual festivals in Cyprus. A core objective of Sovatchii is to unite Bulgarian school and amateur ensembles, alongside singers and musicians across various age groups.
The Expats Join Hands in Worldwide Dance festival is organized for and by amateur folklore ensembles performing outside of Bulgaria. The initiative was initially launched by the Ot Izvora group in Lyon, France, which hosted both the inaugural edition in 2015 and the tenth edition in 2025. The upcoming 11th edition in Munich anticipates participation from over 100 dance ensembles and an attendance of more than 4,000 guests.
The Bulgarian News Agency (BTA) is serving as the official media partner for the event, responsible for presenting all participating groups.
