-Based Sovatchii Folk Group to Perform Southeast Bulgarian Dances in Munich

The Cyprus-based folk formation Sovatchii is scheduled to participate in the 11th edition of the traveling festival, Expats Join Hands in Worldwide Dance. This event is set to take place at BMW Park in Munich from May 15 to May 17. According to the group’s artistic director, Teodosi Teodosiev, Sovatchii will present a kammerna formation piece titled “Dances from Southeast Bulgaria.” The performance, which features choreography by Todor Bekirski and music by Stefan Chapkanov, is noted for its strong stage presence.

Sovatchii was established on October 1, 2015, by Teodosiev, who also serves as the group’s artistic director and choreographer. The ensemble has developed a significant presence in Cyprus by organizing major annual festivals, with a core mission of uniting Bulgarian school and amateur dance groups, alongside singers and musicians of various age demographics. The festival itself is dedicated to amateur folklore ensembles performing outside of Bulgaria.

It was initiated by the Ot Izvora group in Lyon, France, which hosted both the first edition in 2015 and the tenth edition in 2025. The 11th Munich iteration anticipates participation from over 100 dance ensembles and an expected attendance exceeding 4,000 guests. The Bulgarian News Agency (BTA) has been appointed as the official media partner for the event, responsible for presenting all participating groups.
