The Cyprus-based folk formation Sovatchii is scheduled to participate in the 11th edition of the traveling festival, Expats Join Hands in Worldwide Dance. The event will take place at BMW Park in Munich from May 15 to May 17. Teodosi Teodosiev, the group’s artistic director, stated that Sovatchii will perform as a камерна formation, presenting a segment of ‘Dances from Southeast Bulgaria.’ This piece, choreographed by Todor Bekirski and set to music by Stefan Chapkanov, is noted for its strong stage presence and emotional impact.
Sovatchii was established on October 1, 2015, by Teodosiev, who concurrently serves as its artistic director and choreographer. Over its operational history, the group has become an active organizer of significant annual festivals within Cyprus. A core objective of the formation is to unite Bulgarian school and amateur ensembles, alongside singers and musicians representing various age demographics.
The Expats Join Hands in Worldwide Dance festival is organized specifically for amateur folklore ensembles performing outside of Bulgaria. The initiative was initiated by the Ot Izvora group in Lyon, France, which hosted both the inaugural 2015 edition and the tenth edition in 2025. For the 11th edition in Munich, organizers anticipate the attendance of over 100 dance ensembles and more than 4,000 guests.
The Bulgarian News Agency (BTA) is the official media partner for the event and will provide coverage of all participating groups.
