The Cyprus-based folk formation Sovatchii is scheduled to participate in the 11th edition of the traveling festival, Expats Join Hands in Worldwide Dance. The event is set to take place from May 15 to May 17 at BMW Park in Munich. According to the group’s artistic director, Teodosi Teodosiev, Sovatchii will perform a chamber presentation featuring “Dances from Southeast Bulgaria.” This piece, choreographed by Todor Bekirski and accompanied by music from Stefan Chapkanov, is noted for its strong stage presence and emotional depth.
Sovatchii was established on October 1, 2015, by Teodosiev, who concurrently serves as the group’s artistic director and choreographer. Over the years, the ensemble has become an active organizer of significant annual festivals within Cyprus. A core objective of the group is to unite Bulgarian school and amateur ensembles, alongside singers and musicians spanning various age groups.
The Expats Join Hands in Worldwide Dance festival is dedicated to amateur folklore ensembles performing outside of Bulgaria. The initiative originated with the Ot Izvora group in Lyon, France, which hosted both the inaugural 2015 edition and the tenth edition in 2025. For the 11th iteration in Munich, organizers anticipate participation from over 100 dance ensembles and an attendance exceeding 4,000 guests.
The Bulgarian News Agency (BTA) is serving as the official media partner for the event and will provide coverage for all participating groups.
