The Cyprus-based folk formation Sovatchii is scheduled to participate in the 11th edition of the traveling festival, Expats Join Hands in Worldwide Dance. The event will take place at BMW Park in Munich from May 15 to 17. According to the group’s artistic director, Teodosi Teodosiev, Sovatchii will present a performance as a kamerná formation.
The performance will feature excerpts from ‘Dances from Southeast Bulgaria,’ choreographed by Todor Bekirski and set to music by Stefan Chapkanov, described as having a strong stage presence and powerful emotional impact. Sovatchii was established on October 1, 2015, by Teodosiev, who remains its artistic director and choreographer. Over time, the group has become known for organizing major annual festivals in Cyprus.
Its primary objective is to unite Bulgarian school and amateur ensembles, alongside singers and musicians spanning various age groups. The Expats Join Hands in Worldwide Dance festival is organized specifically for amateur folklore ensembles performing outside of Bulgaria. The initiative was initially launched by the Ot Izvora group in Lyon, France, which hosted both the inaugural edition in 2015 and the tenth edition in 2025.
The upcoming 11th edition in Munich anticipates participation from over 100 dance ensembles and an attendance of more than 4,000 guests. The Bulgarian News Agency (BTA) is serving as the official media partner for the event and will feature all participating groups.
