-Based Sovatchii Folk Group to Perform Southeast Bulgarian Dances in Munich

The Cyprus-based folk formation Sovatchii is scheduled to participate in the 11th edition of the traveling festival, Expats Join Hands in Worldwide Dance. The event will take place from May 15 to 17 at BMW Park in Munich. According to the group’s artistic director, Teodosi Teodosiev, Sovatchii will present a performance as a камерна ensemble.

Their routine will feature “Dances from Southeast Bulgaria,” a piece choreographed by Todor Bekirski and set to music by Stefan Chapkanov, which Teodosiev noted has a strong stage presence and powerful emotional impact. Sovatchii was founded on October 1, 2015, by Teodosiev, who also serves as its artistic director and choreographer. The group has established itself in Cyprus as an active organizer of major annual festivals, with a primary mission of uniting Bulgarian school and amateur ensembles, alongside singers and musicians of various age demographics.

The Expats Join Hands in Worldwide Dance festival is designed for and by amateur folklore ensembles performing outside of Bulgaria. The initiative originated with the Ot Izvora group in Lyon, France, which hosted both the first edition in 2015 and the tenth edition in 2025. For the 11th edition in Munich, organizers anticipate participation from over 100 dance ensembles and an attendance of more than 4,000 guests.
