Caretaker Economy and Industry Minister Irina Shtonova stated that the caretaker government’s tenure coincided with the emergence of global uncertainty. According to the Economy Ministry, during this time, the ministry worked closely with employers to determine effective support measures for businesses. Shtonova noted that an initial focus involved adjusting the calculation of monthly compensation for businesses impacted by high electricity prices.
She reported that the original six-month calculation proved ineffective, leading to a swift adjustment to a monthly basis. Furthermore, she highlighted the significance of the European Commission’s approval to introduce temporary state aid for energy-intensive companies, allocating EUR 334 million over three years to maintain the economic viability of affected enterprises. To mitigate the consequences of the Middle East military conflict, the ministry implemented several additional measures.
These actions were carefully designed to target specific sectors and support businesses without generating inflationary pressure. Among these supports is the provision of liquidity for transportation companies and agricultural producers. The government has guaranteed lease agreements for these sectors, allowing payment deferrals until the end of the year, and has also postponed increases in toll fees affecting all economic sectors.
Shtonova emphasized that dialogue between the ministry and employers is crucial for sound decision-making, stating that this collaboration has been a top priority and should continue to develop.
