The 20th Investor of the Year awards, hosted by the InvestBulgaria Agency (IBA) and marking its 30th anniversary, highlighted strong signals of growth and strategic focus across Bulgaria’s investment landscape. The official award ceremony, held at the Hyatt Regency Sofia, recognized key contributions to the economy. BTL Industries Bulgaria received the top distinction for its EUR 51 million investment in Plovdiv, a project that generated over 700 jobs.
Officials noted that the award acknowledged long-term development potential, positioning Bulgaria as a prospective medical technology hub. Bulgarian President Iliana Iotova presented the award, emphasizing that such activities build confidence in the nation as a favorable business destination. The awards reflected diverse sectoral and geographic spread, recognizing projects from Intuitive Surgical in Parvomay, Aero Technic BG for aviation expansion, Nestlé Bulgaria, and Festo Bulgaria.
Emphasis was placed on initiatives promoting job creation, technological advancement, and sustainable development. Furthermore, the IBA reported that foreign direct investment in Bulgaria surpassed EUR 800 million in the first two months of 2026, nearly doubling the figure from the previous year. Agency leadership attributed this robust investment growth to the country’s macroeconomic stability, competitive tax framework, and growing human capital.
Officials stated that Bulgaria aims to attract further investment in manufacturing, ICT, research, and education, prioritizing projects that generate higher added value and innovation. The Agency reaffirmed its commitment to supporting investors as a cornerstone of national economic development.
