The 20th Investor of the Year awards, held during the 30th anniversary celebration of the InvestBulgaria Agency (IBA), signaled robust growth and strategic focus within Bulgaria’s investment landscape. The official ceremony took place at the Hyatt Regency Sofia hotel on Monday evening. The top honor for Investor of the Year 2025 was awarded to BTL Industries Bulgaria for a EUR 51 million investment in Plovdiv, which generated over 700 jobs.
The company, which has operated in Bulgaria since 1998, has grown into a global production base, employing over 850 people and exporting medical devices to more than 120 countries. During the award presentation, Bulgarian President Iliana Iotova noted that such activities reinforce confidence in Bulgaria as a favorable business location. The ceremony recognized diverse sectors, including awards for Intuitive Surgical Bulgaria’s greenfield project, Aero Technic BG’s aviation expansion, Nestlé Bulgaria’s growth in the capital, and Festo Bulgaria’s industrial investments.
Emphasis across the awards highlighted job creation, technological advancement, and regional economic impact. Furthermore, the IBA reported that foreign direct investment in Bulgaria surpassed EUR 800 million during the first two months of 2026, nearly doubling the figure from the previous year. Agency leadership attributed this significant increase in investment to the nation’s macroeconomic stability, competitive tax structure, and growing human capital.
Officials stated that Bulgaria aims to attract further investment in manufacturing, ICT, R&D, and education, particularly in areas generating higher added value.
