Bulgarian businessman Atanas Bostandjiev has assumed ownership of PFC Levski Sofia, taking over from the outgoing majority shareholder, Nasko Sirakov, as announced Friday. While Bostandjiev now holds the majority stake, Sirakov will remain the club’s president, having stepped down from his shareholder role after efforts to stabilize the organization. Bostandjiev stated his commitment to maintaining the club’s identity and independence while pursuing sustainable success both on the pitch and in operational management, expressing satisfaction that Sirakov will continue in a leadership capacity.
A central pillar of the future strategy for the club is the proposed new Georgi Asparuhov Stadium. Levski and the architectural firm IPA have unveiled the concept, which requires an estimated investment of EUR 120 million. The facility is designed to meet Bulgarian Football Union standards with a capacity of 24,718 seats, and UEFA standards with 23,032 seats.
Construction is slated to commence in Spring 2027. Beyond football, the stadium will function as a multifunctional complex, capable of hosting large-scale events, including concerts for up to 40,000 attendees. Atanas Bostandjiev brings significant financial experience to the Levski project.
