, Bulgaria Co-Leaders Affirm Unity in CC-DB Coalition before Key Meeting

The co-leaders of Yes, Bulgaria, Ivaylo Mirchev and Bozhidar Bozhanov, reaffirmed support for maintaining a unified parliamentary group within the coalition Continue the Change – Democratic Bulgaria (CC-DB) ahead of a significant parliamentary meeting scheduled for Wednesday. They emphasized that unity is crucial for presenting a cohesive, pro-European, and anti-corruption opposition in Bulgaria. Mirchev stated that the party bodies provided a clear mandate for the group’s cohesion.

He stressed the importance of remaining united to counter what he termed a “concentration of power by Progressive Bulgaria,” noting that this unity is also vital for nominating a strong candidate in the upcoming presidential elections. Addressing the potential for division, Bozhanov reiterated that the coalition must stay together. When questioned about the possibility of forming separate parliamentary groups, Bozhanov stated that Yes, Bulgaria agreed with the need for greater unity to effectively communicate with voters.

The discussion took place at the Palace of Justice in Sofia, where Bozhanov was present for a hearing concerning misconduct in office. Bozhanov dismissed internal disputes over electoral districts as minor issues, asserting that the group’s view is to remain a single parliamentary entity, a direction they are actively pursuing through formal correspondence with Continue the Change. The co-leaders maintained that while disagreements are inherent, they do not represent a dividing line between the two parties within the context of the current political climate in Bulgaria.
